Police on Tuesday arrested a female minor for a stabbing incident that occurred Halloween night in Pualani Estates.

The assault took place at one of the most popular trick-or-treat subdivisions in West Hawaii in front of a large crowd of adults and keiki.

“There was an assault incident involving a knife. Our Juvenile Aid section is continuing the investigation,” said Capt. Akira Edmoundson.

At 7:40 p.m. Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a community park in the Pualani subdivision in Kailua-Kona. As officers were attempting to break up a crowd, they received a second report of another disturbance on the street fronting the community park.

At the second scene, officers observed a 15-year-old female victim with a laceration to her right arm. The victim reported that she had been stabbed by the suspect.

A 15-year-old female from Kailua-Kona was arrested for first-degree assault and later released pending further investigation.

The minor female victim was taken to Kona Community Hospital for treatment.

Edmoundson said more details will be made available as the investigation continues by detectives with the Area II Juvenile Aid Section.
